We Train Ministers
John MacArthur
1939 – 2025
With hearts full of gratitude and profound respect, Seminario Reformado Latinoamericano (SRL) honors the life and legacy of Dr. John MacArthur, whom our gracious Lord has now called into glory. It was a distinct privilege for SRL to collaborate over the years with Dr. MacArthur and the faithful ministry of Grace to You in Latin America.
Please, take a moment to read the tribute we have dedicated as a seminary.
Our Mission
SRL promotes church reformation through intense theological education and pastoral training according to the biblical Doctrines of Grace and the historical legacy of the 16th century evangelical Reformers.
Our Distinctives
Biblical
Our curriculum includes an intensive study of the sixty-six God-inspired books of the Bible. Students learn Greek and Hebrew and are equipped with skills to interpret scripture accurately and faithfully through sound biblical hermeneutics. Our goal is for students to use these skills and apply them practically through expository preaching.
Historical
Following the example set forth by Calvin's Geneva Academy, we operate in accordance with historical confessions of faith and the legacy of the 16th-century evangelical Reformers. Our curriculum encompasses church history and the history of the Protestant Reformation.
Confessional
We adhere to the Doctrines of Grace, TULIP, the five Solas, and the London Baptist Confession of 1689 or the Westminster Confession of Faith. We have two wings that allow for instruction without denominational proselytization: The Charles Haddon Spurgeon wing (Baptist) and the James Montgomery Boice wing (Presbyterian).
Accessible
We are unified in the Reformation by honoring denominational distinctions. Core courses are identical for everyone, but students may select from electives that fall into two wings: The Charles Haddon Spurgeon wing (Baptist) and the James Montgomery Boice wing (Presbyterian). Courses are bilingual (Spanish and English). We also offer undergraduate and postgraduate studies through a variety of affordable programs without compromising on our high academic standards.
"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also".
2 Timothy 2:2
A Message from our President
Dear Friends,
When SRL was founded over 25 years ago, the objective was to take the 16th-century Reformation to Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world by providing a high academic level of Reformed theological education, in Spanish, to ministers of the Gospel. This goal continues to be the driving factor for the mission and, by God’s grace, has borne an abundance of fruit. SRL also remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold Sacred Scripture as the only infallible rule of faith and conduct.
Dr. Noé Acosta
President and chancellor of Srl
